Here are some tips to help you during site selection and ordering audio-visual.

Make sure that you have the name and contact of the A-V technician and that he/she will be available for any emergencies during the event.
Notice any visual obstructions in the room (i.e. columns).
What is the average connection speed of the Internet connection? Does the site offer Internet connection?
Consider burning a website to disk instead of using the Internet. Less worry of slow or loss of connection during the event.
Run all presentations on the computer/laptop prior to the presentation to cache the images.
Learn the equipment prior to the presentation.
LCD Projector and any other auxillary devices must be turned on prior to turning the computer on.
Always have a backup plan.
